IRVINE, Calif., March 15, 1996 -- Gamers just can't get enough of the 1995 Game of the Year, Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, so today, Blizzard Entertainment answered customers' pleas for more by announcing Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal, an expansion CD-ROM. The add-on disk provides an all-new Warcraft II experience with new Orc and Human campaigns and 50 new custom maps.

After destroying the mystic gate into Azeroth, the Humans discover that the rift which allows the Orcs passage into their world still exists. Human forces must now venture beyond the Dark Portal into Orcish lands to put an end to the threat of yet another invasion by the hordes.

In Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal, players encounter 24 new do-or-die missions. The expansion set offers exciting game play set in Orcish swamplands, all new cinematics and 50 custom maps. Using the full version of the game, players can compete in head-to-head battles against as many as eight players.

"We have been overwhelmed by the tremendous success of Warcraft II, and since the game's release, we have been flooded with requests for an add-on disk," said Allen Adham, president and founder of Blizzard Entertainment. "With the expansion disk, players can extend their Warcraft experience as they delve into the Orcs homeland for the first time to experience a entirely new set of challenges."

The expansion set is expected to be available this spring in DOS CD-ROM format at most computer retails stores and mass merchants nationwide for approximately $30. An original Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness CD-ROM is needed to use the features offered in the expansion set. Customers can call (800)-953-SNOW to order the expansion set or to obtain additional information.
