MicroProse, Leading publisher of high quality leisure software, is proud to announce Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares for the IBM PC CD ROM - the latest product in a line of successful strategy games from SimTex Software Corporation - the designers of Master of Orion and Master of Magic.

"With Master of Orion and Master of Magic, Steve Barcia and his team at SimTex Software Corporation proved that they could develop entertainment software that people want and enjoy and they are creating another compelling strategy game with Master of Orion II.", said Marcia Foster, product marketing manager at the MicroProse Studio in Maryland, US.

In Master of Orion II, Population growth has outstripped planetary resources and the need for galactic expansion has been a necessity. the goal of the game is to rule the galaxy. Players accomplish this goal through the development of technology, research, diplomacy and combat.

Acting as mighty emperors, users start with one colony and control how resources are allocated, where fleets are deployed, which galactic neighbors to wage war on and which to befriend. Then, players lead their people into other star systems, quickly securing the space and resources that will guarantee their supremacy.

Players encounter various obstacles; including, a race of fanatic xenophobes (the Antarans) from another dimension that wants to annihilate all intelligent life in the galaxy. Players may want to seek out the Antarans' homeland and destroy it in order to gain the Antarans' technological knowledge, making themselves more powerful.

"Master of Orion II takes the exciting theme of space exploration, colonization and combat from Master of Orion and introduces many new aspects that people wanted to see in the sequel.", said Steve Barcia, designer at SimTex Software.
