Tanarus players from around the world can challenge each other to determine who is the very best.

San Diego, CA, January 29th, 1998 -- Starting next Friday evening (Feb. 6th), and lasting over the weekend, we'll be hosting a 2 vs. 2 Team Challenge. The basic idea is that a registered Tanarus team will enter its 2 top players in a weekend tournament to vie for top spot as best duelers in Tanarus. The top duelers in a division, and finally those who win the top 3 spots, will all receive prizes. If you think your team has got the two hottest Tanarus players around, prove it!

Here are the rules, keeping in mind that this is our very first sponsored tournament:

    1) The team captain ONLY must submit the name of the two players who will represent his team. Entries from anyone besides the team captain are not eligible. NO EXCEPTIONS.
    2) These two players MUST belong to the same team as the captain who submitted their names.
    3) The two duelers MUST be paired for the entire weekend -- NO SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED.

If you're a team captain and would like to register two players from your team, please follow these directions explicitly:

    1) Email dhan@sonyinteractive.com with the subject "TOURNAMENT" (no quotes)
    2) Provide the handles of the two players who will represent your team in the body (see above rules).
    3) Provide the email address of the two representative players.

The deadline for the Team Captain's email will be Thursday, February 5th, 1998 at 12:00 PM Pacific Time. Any email post-marked after that exact time will be disregarded. Don't waste time -- organize your team now and send in the email. If all the info is correct when submitting your email, a confirmation will then be sent out to the Team Captain and the two duelers.

Depending on the number of entries we receive, we'll then separate the teams into divisions. We'll do our best to separate these teams equally based on ratio and score. We understand this is not the end all method of creating divisions, but we'll do our best to create divisions of equal standing.

When all the emails are in, we'll create a schedule. All duelers are going to have to make time over that weekend. Once the schedule is out, we won't make any alterations or changes. If the schedule doesn't work for you, we're sorry -- maybe next time. The tournament will end on Sunday, February 8th in the evening (no specific time as of yet). The schedule will be mailed to the Team Captain, the two players, and will also be available at www.tanarus.com, news.avault.com and also posted here online in Tanarus. You can expect the schedule on Thursday, February 5th.

Finally, for those of you who don't belong to a team, we'll also be hosting a 1 on 1 duel tournament. The process to apply is the same as above, and entries for both competitions are allowed. The 1 on 1 duel will be held on the same weekend.
