Westwood Studios is Developing Command & Conquer Red Alert for the PlayStation

Las Vegas, NV, March 20, 1997 -- Westwood Studios, the company behind the successful strategy game Command & Conquer, today announced that it has begun development of Command & Conquer Red Alert for the Sony PlayStation . Already the fastest selling PC computer game in history, Red Alert will be available for the PlayStation in late 1997.

Command & Conquer Red Alert for the PlayStation will contain all of the missions available in the PC version, plus additional features and enhanced gameplay. The company recently shipped the PlayStation version of its blockbuster title Command & Conquer.

"The countdown to Red Alert for the PlayStation has begun," said Steve Wetherill, vice president of research and development at Westwood Studios. "All of the action, mayhem, and strategy that made Red Alert a mega hit on the PC, will find a new a home on the PlayStation. In addition, we've made several exciting changes and improvements which are unique to this version."

Game Background

In the world of Command & Conquer Red Alert, players are thrust into an alternate reality where Stalin, instead of Hitler, rises to power. Gamers have the option to play as either the Allies or the Soviets. Each side has unique weaponry and technology that drive the distinct strategies players need to win. With more than 40 missions, fully rendered sequences, and live action video footage, Red Alert promises players hour after hour of exciting and addictive game play.
