Woodinville, WA, May 13, 1997 -- Putt-Putt, Freddi Fish and Pajama Sam are about to welcome colorful new members to their family. Humongous Entertainment, creators of international award-winning, hand-animated games for kids and a wholly owned subsidiary of GT Interactive Software Corp. (NASDAQ: GTIS), will unveil new original characters and unprecedented worlds of fun and learning at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Atlanta on June 19.

Children ages 5 to 10 will be the stars when they play Humongous Entertainment's new Junior Sports games, the first interactive sports games designed for and featuring kids. SPY Fox, a clever and cool secret agent in a white tuxedo, is a new original character who will debut in an action-packed Junior Adventure game. Kindergarten, first-grade and second-grade children will discover unexpected fun and learning with the new Big Thinkers series of educational software starring Ben and Becky Brightly. And Pajama Sam, the world's youngest superhero, is back -- this time in Pajama Sam's SockWorks, his first Junior Arcade game.

Junior Sports

The Junior Sports series captures the fun and laughter of days spent playing with all the quirky kids in the neighorhood in Backyard Baseball, Backyard Basketball and Backyard Soccer. Pick your own team from 30 of the funniest boys and girls in town, and learn their abilities as they progress from sand lots and parking lots to the biggest stadiums. Enjoy hand-animated games that feature all of the action and statistics of adult sports games, but with simple mouse-driven controls that even the smallets sports fan can master. The Junior Sports series delivers hours of action and entertainment that never get rained out.

In Backyard Baseball, the first game in the Junior Sports series, you get to pick your players and choose from 100 team names plus custom logos and uniforms. Personalize the action by selecting difficulty level and choosing one of four playing fields with unique game-play characteristics: a sand lot, playground, parking lot or official league field. And print team photos and player baseball cards, including statistics. Entertainment play-by-play announcers Sunny Day and Vinnie the Gooch add to the fun. Cap off a winning season by leading your team to victory in the world championships in a big-league stadium.

Backyard Baseball will be available in stores in October for $39.95 on hybrid CD-ROM for Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and Macintosh. Backyard Basketball and Backyard Soccer will be available in 1998.

SPY Fox in Dry Cereal

Global crisis is at hand. All the world's dairy cows have been "cow-napped." Kids are forced to eat dry cereal, there are no milkshakes, and hot chocolate isn't nearly as good as it's supposed to be. Mr. Udderly, president and CEO of Amalgamated Moo Juice Inc., is missing with vital information needed to solve the case.
There is only one hope: Fox. SPY Fox! With help from kids, his partner Monkey Penny, gadgets from SPY Corp.'s Professor Quack, a Mobile Command Center, and some unusual informants, this ultimate secret agent can overcome challenging obstacles to capture the villainous William the Kid and save the world's milk makers. The game changes every time kids play, in the tradition of Pajama Sam, Freddi 2 and the latest Putt-Putt adventure.

SPY Fox in Dry Cereal, a Junior Adventure for kids ages 5-10, will be available in stores in October for $39.95 on hybrid CD-ROM for Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and Macintosh.

Big Thinkers

The Brightly twins, Ben and Becky Brightly, bring to life Humongous Entertainment's new Big Thinkers series of educational software. With contagious wonder and an ability to stretch and transform themselves into many shapes and forms, the inquisitive Brightly twins engage kids in a fun world of learning and discovery unlike any they have experienced before. Like the Brightly twins, kids can do amazing things when they think big.
The Big Thinkers series features grade-specific activities in a variety of subject areas, based on national curriculum standards. The world of interactive learning complements and extends what kids learn in the classroom. Kids complete activities to earn SmartStars, which they collect in their BrainBanks, on their way to becoming a SuperStar of Smarts.
Each Big Thinker title contains a wealth of activities in five subject areas: math, language arts, sciences, creative arts and thinking skills. Kindergarten Big Thinkers and First Grade Big Thinkers will retail separately in October for $29.95 on hybrid CD-ROM for Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and Macintosh. Second Grade Big Thinkers will be released after the debut of the first two products in the series.

Pajama Sam's SockWorks

Hot on the heels of Pajama Sam in No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside, the world's youngest superhero is back in his first Junior Arcade: Pajama Sam's SockWorks. Sam's mother washed the socks he collected during his first adventure and needs him to sort them and put them away. Pajama Sam dreams up the Sock-O-Matic Mark III machine to make sock sorting fun and easy, and he's ready to share the game with kids everywhere.
With 250 exciting arcade levels to choose from, the Sock-O-Matic machine randomly selects 100 of these levels for each game. Each level can feature conveyor belts, chutes and gadgets that kids use to help Pajama Sam sort his colored socks into the appropriate colored laundry baskets. Kids will enjoy using the Custom Level Editor to create and play and endless variety of personalized sock-sorting games.

Pajama Sam's SockWorks will retail in July for $14.95 on hybrid CD-ROM for Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and Macintosh.
