Gear Pilots Can Receive Free Heavy Gear II Mini-Strategy Guide by BradyGames

Santa Monica, CA, January 12, 1999 -- Sci-fi fans can have an edge over their enemies instantly when they purchase Heavy Gear II, Activision's highly anticipated combat-simulation game for the PC, from barnesandnoble.com. From now through early March, Gear pilots who pre-order Heavy Gear II from Barnes & Noble's online store at www.SoftwareForPCs.com will receive a free copy of BradyGames' Heavy Gear II mini-strategy guide. More information about this special promotion can be found on the Heavy Gear II Web site located at www4.activision.com/games/heavygearii/. Activision expects to release the game in Q1 1999.

Heavy Gear II enlists players as the leader of an elite strike force that operates behind the enemy lines of a distant planet. Piloting some of the most superior mechanized units ever created, players embark on a series of covert missions to reconnoiter, destroy, sabotage and mislead enemy forces. They can also send complex commands to squad mates, use diversionary tactics to ambush enemies and travel across diverse multiplayer environments such as space, swamps, arctic zones, volcanic areas and urban base sites, as they wage war against sophisticated enemies that will adapt to squad tactics and lay down cover fire to protect each other.

Powered by a completely new game engine, Heavy Gear II delivers lightning fast action and realistic, complex battlefields that include more vehicles and structures, indoor fighting and realistic weather and effects.
